Dates & ticketsTwo composers who set out to give death a form: Franz Schubert, who at twenty-seven already knew how little time was left to him, and the Italian Ezio Bosso, who summoned life to the very last. At the centre stands Schubert’s «Death and the Maiden» — here death does not appear as a terror, but in the shape of a woman.
She embraces what Schubert, what none of us can fend off.
The quartet becomes a bitter-tender approach to an ending that finds its reconciliation in art. Three bodies give the central figures form: Schubert himself, devoted to beauty and still searching; death, quiet and seductive; and Bosso, who walked towards the same horizon and died at only 48. His fifth string quartet «Music for the Lodger» answers Schubert across two centuries. What makes this evening «not of this world» is the meeting of this music with dance.

Artistic direction and dance
She grew up in Pisa, was a principal dancer with Ballett Zürich and danced at the Royal Ballet and the Teatro alla Scala before that. The film «Becoming Giulia» (2022) brought her to a wide audience. The artistic direction of this evening is hers.
Choreography and dance
Born in Sicily, he was a principal dancer at the Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka. His choreographic language combines powerful physicality, theatricality and a human-centred approach.
Dance
The Spanish dancer has been a soloist with Hamburg Ballett since 2016; as a choreographer he has created works for the Bundesjugendballett and for festivals such as Origen.
